Conference Venue

The College of William and Mary, founded in 1693, is a state-assisted, liberal arts university and the second oldest college in the United States. The College is located in historic Williamsburg, midway between Norfolk and Richmond, Virginia. The beautiful college campus includes the Sir Christopher Wren Building, the oldest academic building in continuous use in the United States. Sessions also will be held in the Williamsburg Hospitality House, which is adjacent to the College. Details about Williamsburg can be found at: www.visitwilliamsburg.com.

Accommodations

Reservations for hotel accommodations may be made by contacting one of the following:

  • Williamsburg Hospitality House at 1-800-932-9192 ($109/night plus tax; conference site)
  • Governor's Inn at 1-757-229-1000 ext.6000 or 1-800-447-8679 or 1-800-261-9530 ($90/night plus tax, 10-15 minute walk)
  • La Quinta Inn at 1-757-253-1663 ($69/night plus tax; located several miles from the University Center.  A hotel shuttle will provide transportation to the conference.) 
  • Williamsburg Hospitality House

    Travel and Transportation

    Williamsburg is about 45 miles from Norfolk and 50 miles from Richmond. There are three local airports that serve the Williamsburg area: Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF), Norfolk International Airport (ORF), and Richmond International Airport (RIC). Williamsburg can also be reached by rail (www.amtrak.com). The Williamsburg Area Transport Bus System is available for getting around locally (e.g. outlets, Busch Gardens, etc.).     Meals

    Invited workshop registration includes breakfast and lunch October 8th . The conference registration fee includes breakfast October 8th though the 10th and lunches on October 8th and 9th . Additionally, refreshments for mid-morning and mid-afternoon breaks will be provided. Two wine receptions are also provided. Reservations for the Conference dinner on October 9th must be made on the Registration Form.

     

    Audio-Visual Facilities

    Appropriate facilities will be provided in all meeting rooms. Speakers should indicate their equipment requirements on the Abstract Submission Form. Presenters wanting to use PowerPoint or other live computer presentations should bring their own laptop computers with them with suitable power cables and adaptors. Data projection equipment (LCD projectors) will be available on a limited basis and must be reserved in advance by the presenter with the Conference Office.

     

    Visa Information & Letters of Invitation

    Participants who require a visa to enter the United States are advised to apply for the necessary documentation early. The ITC President will be pleased to send a formal letter of invitation to any individual requiring one. Such a letter often facilitates the procedure of obtaining a visa. Please note that the letter is not a commitment on the part of the Conference to provide any financial support and all the normal registration requirements still apply.

     

    Banking Facilities

    Numerous ATMs (Automated Teller Machines) are within the conference vicinity. American Express, MasterCard
    and Visa are widely accepted in the U.S. for hotel payments, restaurants, shopping, car rentals, gas and other retail locations. Traveler’s checks with U.S. funds also can be used as a method of payment.

     

    Language

    The official language of the conference is English. There will be no simultaneous interpretation provided for any of the sessions.

     

    Electricity

    The electrical voltage in the U.S. is 120 volts.

     

    Weather

    The typical autumn temperature in Williamsburg, Virginia, averages around 18ºC or 65ºF. Participants are advised to bring cool weather clothing and an umbrella.
