Instructions to Contributors

Manuscripts must be prepared according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th ed.). On the first page, indicate the full title of the article, a running head (less than 50 characters), the word count of the manuscript, submission date, and the author(s) name(s), affiliations(s), and complete mailing address(es). All articles appearing in the IJT are peer reviewed, and the reviewers have agreed to participate in a blind reviewing system. The second page of the manuscript, therefore, should omit the authors’ names and affiliations but should include the title of the manuscript, running head, and submission date. Footnotes containing information pertaining to the authors’ identities or affiliations should be placed on separate pages. Every effort should be made by authors to see that the manuscript itself contains no clues to their identities.

All manuscripts must be prefaced by an abstract of 100-150 words on a separate sheet, as well as a maximum of six key words. All manuscript pages, including reference lists and tables, must be typed double-spaced. Pages must be numbered consecutively. Define acronyms and abbreviations used in the manuscript when first mentioned. Print each figure and table on a separate page. All figures must be camera-ready. Authors should comply with “Guidelines to Reduce Bias in Language” as printed in the Publication Manual. Manuscripts that fail to conform to APA-style guidelines will be returned to the author(s). MSWord or WordPerfect files are preferred.

Electronic submission is preferred. For more information about electronic submission, please see www.education.auckland.ac.nz/staff/j.hattie. To submit paper copies, please send five copies of your manuscripts (an original and four duplicates) to: John Hattie, Editor, International Journal of Testing, Faculty of Education, The University of Auckland, Private Bag 92019, Auckland, New Zealand.

All manuscripts submitted must contain material that has not been published and is not being considered elsewhere. Authors are responsible for all statements made in their work, for obtaining permission from copyright owners for reprinting or adapting a table or figure, and also for reprinting a quotation of more than 500 words. Copies of all permissions must be provided prior to publication. Figures must be provided in camera-ready form.
